HINES/FISHER HOUSE VISIT

Several members of OSOT America visited Hines Hospital on December 5, 2011 to assist Sodexo in handing out Christmas cards made by children to the patients.  Next the group went to the Fisher House where the Sodexo employees prepared  and served a meal for the families staying there.  Before the dinner was served, there was a short presentation to thank OSOT America. FALL DRIVE DELIVERY

On Saturday December 3, 2011, at MB Financial Bank in Lemont, over 4,000 lbs of donations were delivered by Joe Alger and the JA Frate truck.  A few hearty motorcycle riders accompanied them.  The N. IL Warriors Watch Riders escorted this truck and helped load it up with all the comfort care packages that will go to our troops overseas. Thanks to MB Bank, JA Frate and all who helped in this great effort!

ARMY TEN MILER

OSOT America’s president, Deb Rickert ran in the Army Ten Miler on Sunday, October 9, 2011.  Her son David also accepted a last minute invitation to participate. Both were honored to be a part of the Navistar Defense Team, which also included Gen Stanley McChrystal. Congratulations to all for a successful finish!

In addition to running on the Navistar Team, the OSOT crew was busy meeting and talking with families and other military representatives. Some of the highlights include a tour of Bethesda and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, visitng two wounded troops/families from Illinois and meeting and talking with Gen Odierno. It was hard work for the entire team who went – Barb, Deb and Dawn. Special thanks to Michelle Kurtz for her help in preparing the booth materials.

PARK DISTRICT YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUES

On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Kerry Grassini, one of our OSOT America Members (whose son is in Afghanistan) organized an 18 Park District collection in Shabbona Park. So far 5 Park Districts have brought in 1,450 lbs of items. Other Park Districts are all anxious to participate.  The event commemorated 9/11, helped collect letters and goodies for the Troops, had the US Army and the USMC represented and even had a football game!  A good turnout and a lot of stuff was collected for the Troops!  Click Here to see more photos from this great event!

WAREHOUSE VOLUNTEERS

Radio 94.7 asked all Rockin’ for the Troops concert goers to sign a banner. On Saturday, September 10, 2011, members at all three OSOT America locations took a quick break to pose for a picture with these banners. Because these banners so inspired us, we wanted to share them with the troops, so they will be packed in our boxes and sent off to our heroes serving in harm’s way!
