The CHAMP (ComEd Helps Activated Military Personnel) program provides bill-payment assistance to deployed members of the military and disabled veterans who reside within ComEd’s northern Illinois service territory and demonstrate a need. CHAMP offers a package of benefits, including a cash stipend of up to $500 while funds are available, a deferred payment plan, extended payment due dates, exemption from late charges, deposit reduction and budget payment plans. Launched in 2002, CHAMP was expanded in 2011 to offer benefits to disabled veterans. ComEd also offers other bill payment assistance programs to all eligible customers, including payment plans and budget billing. To enroll in CHAMP or another of ComEd’s bill-payment assistance programs, customers should call 1-888-806-CARE (2273), or download an application at www.ComEd.com/CARE . A copy of a discharge letter, along with either a disability award letter or social security disability letter are required to qualify for benefits |
VETERAN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO TEST FREE PTSD TREATMENT:
Researchers are seeking veterans to participate in a new state of Illinois-funded study of a dramatic treatment for PTSD. FREE TAX PREPARATION FOR IL TROOPS
lllinois’ military personnel, active duty and National Guard members who are currently deployed or recently returned from active duty are eligible to receive free tax preparation.
For further information please call the Illinois CPA Society directly at 800-993-0407, ext. 277 . All members of the military who are Illinois residents and are either deployed or have recently returned from a combat zone, are eligible for this service.
