FOR MILITARY AND VETERANS

HOW TO GET EMERGENCY CARE AT A NON-VA FACILITY

Call 911 or go to the closest emergency room. You do NOT need preauthorization from VA to seek emergency non-VA treatment. Contact the closest VA medical center within 72 hours. You, a family member, friend, or non-VA hospital can make that contact. The VA facility will verify your eligibility for VA to pay for the care and advise you of claims filing procedures and deadlines. PLEASE NOTE: VA is not authorized to pay for all emergency care for veterans, your individual eligibility will determine what the VA is able to pay for.

YOGA FOR VETERANS

The VA has determined that Yoga is great treatment for Veterans and active duty military. The program is for veterans, military and their families. We have been blessed with a great team of Yoga instructors led by Dana Fish. These instructors have gone through training and are certified by Connected Warriors. They will be conducting classes at various locations in the Naperville area and the Western Suburbs. More details will follow when we get confirmation about sites. IT IS FREE TO ALL VETERANS, SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES!  Click Here for more information.

Below is the link to VA Benefits for 2013. At the risk of being a nag let me reiterate again:

  •  Any benefits that you get from the VA be it healthcare, pension or compensation is a benefit that you earned when you put on the uniform to defend this country. IT IS NOT AN ENTITLEMENT.
  •  If you file a claim for benefits make sure you go through an accredited Veterans Service Officer. They will act as your advocate for that claim.  2013 VA Benefits

JOBS AT BNSF RAILWAY:

BNSF Railway, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., is actively seeking applicants with military experience. At BNSF, we salute those with service, value their skills and welcome the unique experiences of our service members. From skilled craftsmen to first-line supervisors, we filled over 5,000 positions in 2011. BNSF offers challenging and rewarding career opportunities for those in transition from military to civilian life as well as veterans, retirees and members of National Guard and Reserve components.Today’s BNSF Railway, a product of nearly 400 different railroad lines that merged or were acquired over the course of 160 years, has been quietly delivering cars, coal, clothing, games and nearly anything else found in homes and businesses. While many different railroads combined to form BNSF, the people who worked at those railroads shared many traits. The people who built BNSF were – and continue to be – a unique breed, blending the forward-thinking of dreamers with the pragmatism of results-oriented business leaders. This heritage played a central role in settling and growing the American West, and today, BNSF continues to have a significant impact in meeting the needs of shippers and serving the economy. VETERANS CRISIS LINE

The VA wants all Veterans to know that confidential support is only a text message away- a new, free, confidential text-messaging service in the existing Veterans Crisis Line, introduction of toll-free access from Europe, and collaboration with Vets Prevail and Vets4Warriors, two groups providing crisis help to Veterans, Servicemembers and their families. the Veterans Crisis Line (1-800-273-8255 and Press 1) and online chat (www.VeteransCrisisLine.net), Veterans and Servicemembers in crisis and their friends and families may text free of charge to 83-8255 to receive confidential, personal and immediate support. The text service is available, like the Veterans Crisis Line and online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and connects a user with a specially trained VA professional — many who are Veterans themselves.

As a part of the effort to extend VA’s reach, Veterans and members of the military community in Europe may now receive free, confidential support from the European Military Crisis Line, a new initiative recently launched by VA. Callers in Europe may dial 0800-1273-8255 or DSN 118 to receive confidential support from responders at the Veterans Crisis Line in the U.S.

VA’s Veterans Crisis Line continues to add external resources to provide Veterans with additional support. Two of these organizations include Vets Prevail (www.VetsPrevail.org) and Vets4Warriors online chat(www.Vets4Warriors.com), free hotline (1-855-838-8255/1-855-VET-TALK). If a Veteran is in need of professional crisis or mental health support, Vets4Warriors responders will transfer the Veteran to a responder at the Veterans Crisis Line.
